Elaine Galeazzi started teaching in the Knoxville School District in 1980. That’s 44 years ago. Jimmy Carter was President. The movie Kramer vs. Kramer won an Oscar for Best Picture, and Dustin Hoffman won an Oscar for Best Actor. Best Actress was Sally Field for her role in Norma Rae. The number one selling single was “Call Me”, by Blondie. “Greatest Hits Volume 2” by ABBA was the number one selling record album. “Coward of the County” by Kenny Rogers was the top country hit. Rogers’ album “Kenny” was the top album, and Kim Kardashian was born.
Elaine has taught thousands of children over the years and remembers them all. She tells me she has loved every day working in the Knoxville schools, and would like to thank Knoxville, the district, and her coworkers for their support. In my interview below, she provides advice for parents, new teachers, and much more:
Mrs. Galeazzi’s students have a special message for her above!
I stopped by the Northstar gym this week and was surprised to find the students playing lacrosse. Gym teacher Dee Huyck tells me it’s fun and she enjoys teaching students about the unique game. She says the popularity of lacrosse is growing. Several Iowa colleges have lacrosse teams as do Waukee and Dowling high schools in the Des Moines metro.

The Knoxville School District has announced that the relationship they have with GoKnoxvilleTV will continue to grow! GoKnoxvilleTV will showcase many activities via Facebook and their app, including sports and music events. I interviewed Dewayne below, and he tells me how students will be involved, how the financing works, and that 10% of all revenues will be returned to the school. He also tells me the sky is the limit on the number of cameras that will be used to cover these activities, depending on community support.
